Road Safety Training Gets Closer to
Reality
London based XPI Simulation Ltd has released new training software
which closes the gap between its popular XP300 road safety simulator and
its driver training simulator. The latest software includes motorway driving
in fog, children running across the road near a school and encountering
a cyclist overtaking parked cars.

XPI demonstrates Deformable Terrain
XPI Simulation has recently demonstrated real time deformable
terrain as the latest feature to be added to its Tempest software suite.
Deformable terrain enables objects to interact with craters appearing
as a result of explosions.
XPI anounces Volumetric Cloud
Software
XPI’s latest release of the application programmer’s
software, Tempest, includes support for volumetric clouds. This extension
enables the user to create realistic looking cumulus cloud formations
or localized ground fog with very fast update rates for interactive simulators

Lessons in Road Safety
The driving simulator on display at RoSPA’s road safety congress
is the latest tool for getting the message across. The use of simulators
in training is not new: they have been used for many years training people
in safety critical professions, most notably in the flight and military
