XPI Develops Marshalling Simulator for Royal Navy
2nd January 2008
XPI Simulation has been awarded a contract to supply its interactive
aircraft marshalling trainer for use by Royal Navy Flight Deck
Officers and Type 45 Destroyer Flight Deck Controllers.
SEA, as prime contractor, teamed with XPI to combine its own expertise in e- learning and Navy training systems with XPI's experience in 3D visual simulation: in particular its previous experience in supplying aircraft marshalling systems. The innovative training solution and visual realism fits well with the Royal Navy's position at the forefront of technology.
The system will provide the RN School of Flight Deck Operations a realistic simulation environment for training of aircraft marshalling procedures. It will include models of all major RN ship types, a variety of helicopters and will use the latest techniques to capture realistic human movements.
XPI Simulation is a member of the MoD's Tower of Excellence in Synthetic Environments.
